This was the time when we started UMUSEKE. We had no idea how far we would go, we weren’t even sure that we would be able to survive for a few years. What drove us to start the UMUSEKE initiative was the understanding that we could use media and technology to restore peace, peach reconciliation and heal wounds contrary to how media contributed to the genocide which killed more than a million in Rwanda during 1994.

This was the first period when UMUSEKE actually felt like it would stick around for a while. We realized we were growing somehow and expanding at the same time. Our journey has only brought us higher. Because of our advocacy, contribution in restoring peace, reconciliation, healing Rwandans wounds and creating new jobs, represented by our Executive Director, UMUSEKE received appreciation by The President of United States Barack Obama at White House - Washington DC. As we go on towards the future we intend to exploit the full potential and make more impact.
